RUN THE SNAKE FOR 3 or 6 Hours! How far can you slither along the trails?     Want to help? VOLUNTEER

Oklahoma's Original Race Against the Clock

Join us for the 2020 Snake Run where everyone has the same finishing time. You run as many loops as you can in Six or Three Hours.

The course is a flat and sandy single-track trail named the Snake Trail, located on the upper west section of Turkey Mountain. The Snake Trail is one of the smoothest, rock and root-free trails on Turkey Mountain. Start/Finish is located in the upper parking lot at 61st Street and Elwood Ave.

We have fabulous awards for the top three male and female finishers for each race. Every participant receives a highly-regarded finisher's medal and shirts to those that registered before we run out.

Course Description

The Snake Run includes a 4 mile out-and-back segment and a 1/2 mile loop. Both loops pass the start/finish area which is full of volunteers, spectators and plenty of food and drink. Participants run as many of these loops as they can in six or three hours. The longest distance wins. If people have the same distance the win goes to the person who finished the last loop first. Only fully completed laps are counted – no partial credit if you are on the course at the end.

The 4 mile ‘loop’ is an out-and-back with one aid station that you will see three times – pass it once about 1 mile in, you’ll see the other side at the turn around point (about 1 mile later), and pass it again on your way to the finish line.

You can run any combination of long and short loops, for example:

  • One long loop (4 miles) and have a hamburger and beer while you cheer on the other participants. You still go home with a finisher’s medal and have an extra-long 5K under your belt.
  • Three long loops and three short loops for a slightly longer-than-normal Half-Marathon (13.5 miles)
  • Four long loops for a longer-than-normal 25K (25.7K)
  • Six long loops and five short loops for a Full Marathon (26.5 miles)
  • Seven long loops and six short loops for a 50K
  • 11 long loops and seven short loops to beat the course record (47 miles) and win $150 (one winner per race)

Our aid stations are manned by the best volunteers in the area. Most are trail and ultra runners themselves and anticipate your every need - probably before you know you need it.

Snake Run wouldn't be possible without the help of great volunteers. Sign up for a shift at our volunteer website (coming soon). Don't worry if you are new to the volunteer scene. You'll be working alongside and learning from the best of the best.

We have spots that are good for families. We have spots that are good for sitting in the woods alone to ponder the meaning of life. Sign up and enjoy the fun.
